Choose the connection for its function
In a suitable suction arrangement, a foot valve helps limit reverse flow and retain liquid in the line. It is not a pump and does not solve every suction problem by itself. Select it together with the pump, suction line, fluid and installation arrangement.
Distinguish nominal connection from the flow path
The catalogue’s 1″–4″ designations identify connection sizes. The pump port, actual hose or pipe bore and foot-valve connection may require separate checks. A small transition or unsuitable connector can restrict flow even with a larger hose; do not infer capacity from the size name alone.
Positioning and operating checks
Confirm the permitted operating orientation and any flow arrow for the model. Assess changing water level, sediment, inlet position and maintenance access. Do not apply one immersion or bottom-clearance value to every pump; use the pump and component instructions.
Air leakage and maintenance
Replacing a foot valve will not necessarily resolve air leakage, crushing or blockage elsewhere in the suction line. Where fitted, strainer cleanliness, free movement of the valve mechanism and joint sealing form part of maintenance. Inspect or dismantle only after stopping the pump safely and preparing the system according to its instructions.
Checks before ordering and installation
- Provide the pump model, nominal connection, actual line diameter and fluid together.
- Verify installation orientation and inlet location in the model instructions.
- Plan the required adapter and maintenance access as well as the foot valve.
Information for your quotation
Prepare the quotation request with the product code, dimensions at both ends, quantity and delivery destination. Specify each connection separately for twin outlets or unequal ends. The packing quantity in the table is not an automatic minimum order; stock, packing and delivery are confirmed in the written quotation.
These selection notes provide general technical guidance. Confirm the exact material, fluid compatibility, pressure/temperature limits and installation method in the current documentation for the selected product.
Frequently asked questions
3 questions and answers covering size, use, technical checks and quotations.
What pump and line details are needed to select a foot valve?
Provide the connection size, flow direction, fluid and pump or line conditions. Verify the selected model’s installation orientation and suitability in its technical information; the same nominal size alone is not enough.
How do I check the product code and packaging quantity?
Use the product code, size and packaging quantity from the selected model’s table together. Codes and packaging quantities for different models on the family page are not interchangeable; state the order quantity separately in the quotation.
How do I request current pricing and delivery details?
Provide the product code or model name, size, quantity and delivery destination. Current prices, stock and shipping terms for this group are confirmed in a written quotation; do not assume an unpublished price or automatic availability.
