Choose couplings and fittings by the job they must perform, rather than by two parts appearing to have the same diameter. Start with the task: joining two PE pipes, transitioning to threaded equipment, adding a branch, shutting off flow or protecting a maintenance point. The groups below address these tasks with different components.
Pipe size, thread size and fitting shape
On the PE side, check the outside diameter in millimetres; on a threaded end, check nominal thread size and thread standard. The two dimensions in a designation such as 32 × 1″ are not two ways of writing the same diameter. A coupling continues a straight line, an elbow changes direction, a tee creates a branch, and a reducer joins different sizes.
Assess the series and service conditions together
Do not treat Blue PN16 and New PN16 Series components as interchangeable solely because of their colour or series name. Use the selected code, end connections and published size table. A PN designation alone is not approval for a fluid, temperature or complete installation.
Checks before ordering and installation
- Record the actual connection at each end: pipe outside diameter, male/female thread or hose tail.
- Assess line pressure, temperature, fluid and mounting position against the component information.
- Keep series codes and packing quantities distinct when preparing the parts list.

Which dimensions should I check first when selecting fittings?
State the actual PE pipe outside diameter, thread size and type, and required connection at the other end separately. Colour or a family name alone does not establish compatibility.

Use the product code, size and packaging quantity from the selected model’s table together. Codes and packaging quantities for different models on the family page are not interchangeable; state the order quantity separately in the quotation.

Distinguish the coupling series and sack quantity
At 25×25 and 32×32, Blue and New Series couplings have different product codes and sack quantities even when the size is the same. These four rows are actual Ertunç catalogue records.
