PE 100 and PE 32: A Pipe Selection Guide in 5 Topics
Separate Material Grade from Operating Class
The designations PE100 and PE32 alone do not establish a pipe’s pressure limit, service life or suitability for every application. Assess the declared material together with outside diameter, SDR or wall thickness, temperature and the jointing system. Colour or a “first quality” label does not replace technical product documentation.

5 Points to Compare
| Selection Factor | When Choosing PE100 | When Choosing PE32 |
|---|---|---|
| Material Declaration | Verify the PE100 grade in markings and technical documentation | Verify the PE32 grade against the full product name and technical documentation |
| Pressure and Geometry | SDR, outside diameter and design conditions must be assessed together | Obtain the pressure limit from the product table, not the grade name alone |
| Application Suitability | Water, gas and other applications require separate suitability assessments | Drinking-water and other requirements must match the product documentation scope |
| Service Conditions | Temperature, pressure, exposure and installation affect service life | Flexibility or colour does not guarantee a particular service life |
| Total Cost | Compare length, jointing method and delivery in the same quotation | Assess price per metre together with suitability and required fittings |
What Does the PE100 Designation Tell You?
Under the ISO 12162 classification approach, PE100 corresponds to a minimum required strength (MRS) class of 10 MPa. MRS describes material strength; it does not mean an operating pressure of 10 MPa. The pipe’s permitted pressure depends on material, dimensions, design coefficient and service conditions.
Do Not Classify Blue and Black Pipes by Colour Alone
Blue PE pipe, black PE pipe and PE100 products may appear as separate catalogue families. Assuming that blue always means PE32 and black always means PE100 will not ensure the correct choice. Read the full product name, material and pressure declaration on the marking, and verify drinking-water or UV suitability separately.
What Should You Include in a Quotation Request?
Provide the product family, outside diameter, required pressure class, total length, connection type and delivery destination together. Diameter and class options vary by family; do not assume every series has the same range. Bulk-order terms are confirmed in a written quotation, with no fixed discount or stock guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Difference Between PE100 and PE32?
They are different material-grade designations, not direct pressure ratings or warranty periods. Compare actual products using the material declaration, SDR, outside diameter, wall thickness and application suitability. Density or colour alone cannot establish all technical properties.
Which Applications Can Use PE100 Pipe?
PE100 material can be used in pipes intended for different applications, but water, gas and industrial lines do not share one product approval. A water pipe on this site must not be assumed suitable for natural gas simply because it is labelled PE100. Check the relevant product standard, marking and documentation scope.
What Is PE32 Pipe Used For?
Determine the application of a product offered as PE32 from its own technical information and project conditions. Flexibility may affect installation planning but does not establish pressure class, drinking-water suitability or jointing method by itself. Select by the exact product family and size.
What Are PE Pipe Prices in 2026?
The current list price for the 32 mm PE100 10 ATÜ product is TRY 36.28 per metre, excluding VAT. This price does not automatically apply to another diameter, class or blue/black product family. Check the list date, full product name, length and delivery terms when ordering.
How Are PE Pipe Pressure Classes Specified?
Use the exact product marking and technical table for its pressure class. One material grade may have different SDR and pressure options. Do not treat ATÜ and PN designations as equivalent, or select class 6, 10 or 16 solely because the application is a garden, water network or main.
How Long Does PE Pipe Last?
Long-term strength assessment used in design is not a warranty for every installation. Actual service life depends on pressure, temperature, fluid, exposure, ground conditions and installation. Any specific service-life statement or warranty must be assessed within the conditions of the product and project concerned.
What Is the Difference Between Black and Blue PE Pipe?
Colour alone does not define PE100/PE32 grade, pressure or UV performance. Compare the full name, diameter and verified technical class of the blue and black product families. A colour code may belong to a standard or project specification; confirm that it applies to the product.
How Do I Select a PE Pipe Diameter?
Calculate required flow, line length, elevation difference, available pressure and fitting losses together. Pipes with the same outside diameter may have different internal diameters because of wall thickness. Fixed rules such as “25 mm for a house, 32 mm for a garden” do not replace design calculations.
How Are Wholesale PE Pipe Prices Quoted?
Bulk orders are accepted; terms are confirmed in a written quotation based on product family, size, class, length and delivery destination. There is no automatic percentage discount promised for ten coils or any other quantity. List each product code and length separately for a comparable quote.
Can PE32 Pipe Be Used for Drinking Water?
A material-grade name alone neither establishes nor rules out drinking-water contact suitability. Check the selected product’s current hygiene/compliance documentation, pressure capacity and the standards required by the project together. The same checks are necessary for PE100 products.
What Is the Difference Between PE100 and PE80?
PE100 and PE80 have MRS classifications of 10 MPa and 8 MPa respectively. These are material-strength classifications, not direct operating pressures. Compare actual products using the same outside diameter, SDR, design coefficient, temperature and application conditions.
Why Does Product Certification Matter?
Check the manufacturer, product family, applicable standard, scope and current validity of the documentation. A general company certificate does not prove coverage of every size or application. Match the product marking to the documentation and state drinking-water, fire-protection or other special requirements at quotation stage.
