What Is the TSE 418 Standard? A PE Pipe Quality Guide
Separate the Standard Reference from Certificate Scope
A general or older reference such as “TSE 418” does not establish the selected pipe’s current certification scope. Check the full standard, part and edition in the specification, and the product range, production site and validity in the certificate. It does not create a universal lifetime or suitability guarantee.

Match the Document to the Product
| Check | Information to Request |
|---|---|
| Certificate Scope | Product, standard edition, production site and validity |
| Traceability | Pipe markings, batch and delivery record |
| Technical Dimensions | Material grade, outside diameter, SDR and wall thickness |
| Application Requirements | Suitability for pressure, temperature and intended use |
Absence of a certificate does not by itself prove poor quality, recycled material or a particular price difference. However, suitability must not be assumed without verifying the project’s required documents and tests. Ask Ertunç Plastik for the technical and certification information available for the selected product.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is TSE 418?
Verify the complete title and current status of a standard reference in an order or older document through TSE records. Do not assume TS EN 12201 or ISO 4427 is the same reference or automatically has identical certification scope.
Why is the TSE certificate important?
The document should be evaluated only for the product and scope written on it. Compare the wall thickness and pressure class with the pipe printing, technical sheet and project specification.
Can pipes without TSE certificate be used?
Document condition varies depending on the project and tender specifications. Check the required standard, valid certification and scope before purchasing.
What tests are applied to PE pipe?
Tests depend on the product standard, material grade and certification scope. Check the method, sample and date used to verify dimensions and pressure performance in the report; do not assume an identical test programme for every batch.
What is the difference between TSE and ISO ?
TSE is a national standards and certification organisation; ISO publishes international standards. A standard number does not mean a product is automatically certified or accepted for every project. Check certificate type and scope separately.
What is the minimum wall thickness of the PE 100 pipe?
One wall thickness does not apply to every PE100 pipe. Verify the value and tolerance in current product or standard tables for the outside diameter, SDR, material and nominal pressure class.
Why is uncertified pipe cheaper?
Lack of a certificate alone does not prove a lower price or material defect. Compare equivalent diameter, class, length and delivery scope, and separately check the conformity documents required by the project.
Are Ertunç Plastik pipes TSE certified?
Do not assume a single document coverage for all products and lots. Request the current technical data sheet, marking and valid certificate of conformity, if any, of the selected pipe.
What do the writings on the pipe mean?
Markings vary with the product standard and class. Match the available manufacturer, dimensions, material, class and batch information to the order and technical documents; do not assume every pipe carries the same certificate fields.
How to verify TSE certified pipe?
You can inquire about the document on the TSE website (tse.org.tr) and check the TSE mark and document number on the pipe. Ertunç Plastik shares document information upon request.
What products does TSE 418 cover?
Do not establish scope from an abbreviated standard name. Use the current standard record and the selected product’s certificate scope; PE pipe, PVC pipe and hose ranges do not automatically share that scope.
What is ISO 4427?
ISO 4427 is a standard series for PE piping systems. Check the applicable part, edition and product conformity scope. The reference does not mean automatic acceptance in every country or project, nor export approval by itself.
What are the risks of using uncertified pipes?
Without required conformity and traceability evidence, project compliance may not be demonstrable. That does not establish a material defect, health risk or insurance outcome for every uncertified product; assess the technical and contractual requirements using actual documents.
How to measure pipe wall thickness?
Use suitable equipment to measure the pipe cross-section at several points. Account for ovality, cut quality and measurement conditions, then compare the result with the specified value and tolerance for that diameter and SDR.
What does the SDR value mean?
SDR is nominal outside diameter divided by nominal wall thickness. At the same outside diameter, a lower SDR generally means a thicker wall. Its relationship to PN depends on material and design conditions; one SDR–PN mapping does not cover every PE grade.
